Miteri Cooperative chairman discusses misuse of funds with parliamentary probe committee
Kathmandu, September 13 — The parliamentary investigation special committee on misuse of cooperative funds has discussed financial irregularities with Kumma Raj Gurung, the chairman of Miteri Cooperative.
According to committee chair Surya Thapa, the committee conducted an on-site inspection at Mahalaxmi, Lalitpur, and then held discussions with Gurung.
The financial irregularities at this cooperative have also implicated Nepali Congress Vice President Dhanraj Gurung and his ex-wife. On Thursday, the committee followed its procedures and conducted on-site inspections of three government bodies and thirteen cooperative institutions.
The committee inspected the Department of Cooperative, the Cooperative Training Center in New Baneshwor, and the office of the Problematic Cooperative Management Committee in Buddhanagar. It also examined and studied the on-site conditions of several cooperatives, including Swarnalaxmi, Sumeru, Civil, Gautamshri, Kantipur Cooperative, Nepal Cooperative Financial Institution, Miteri, Laligurans, Gorkha Savings, Shiva Shikhar, and Nagarik Bikas Cooperative.
Additionally, the committee observed the operational process after the return of savings by the Guna Multi-Purpose, Pulchowk branch.
