Vehicle torched in Biratnagar

Biratnagar: Students have set ablaze the vehicle of the Koshi Provincial Planning Commission, infront of Mahendra Morang Campus. They set fire to the Scorpio car bearing the numberplate 1 Jh 644 at 10:30 am this morning.

The police had arrested 6 students on the charge of attacking the city police of Rangeli municipality of Morang. The students have been protesting since Friday demanding their release.

The arrested students had submitted a memorandum to the municipal office on 26th of May demanding to put  a stop on exorbitant fees charged by the local private schools. They had also demanded to stop the arbitrary appointments of teachers in public schools.

Earlier, they had demonstrated by blocking the road for some time at Roadshesh Chowk in Biratnagar. They said that if all the arrested students are not released unconditionally, more protests will follow.

Among the arrested students are 23-year-old Deepak Yadav of Rangeli-6, 20-year-old Rahul Yadav, Rukum Yadav, 18-year-old Raman Kumar Rai of Rangeli-7, 19-year-old Vishek Jha of Rangeli-8 and Milan Mishra of Rangeli-2.
