Government announces Rs 1 million compensation for Barahathawa victim's family
KATHMANDU: In response to the tragic incident at Barahathawa Municipality, Sarlahi, where Jay Shankar Shah lost his life during a protest, the government has declared a compensation of one million rupees to Shah's grieving family,
The Ministry of Home Affairs issing a press statement announced to provide the compensation and establishment of a three-member committee to conduct a thorough investigation. The committee, led by Joint Secretary Thaneshwor Gautam, is mandated to submit a detailed report within seven days.
The unfortunate incident unfolded when Shah, 30, was fatally shot by the police during a protest organized by locals. The demonstration aimed at urging authorities to upgrade a primary health center in Barahathawa Municipality-5.
