Left alliance lays claim for appointment of Oli as new Prime Minister

Kathmandu - The left alliance today reached the Office of President, Shital Niwas to present a letter of claim for the appointment of CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli a new Prime Minister of Nepal.
Formation of a new government has already begun with the Election Commission Wednesday submitting the final results of the House of Representatives elections held on November 26 and December 7 last year to the President.
Oli and CPN (Maoist Centre) chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal have signed in the letter. In the 275- member House of Representatives, 121 seats are held by the UML while the Maoist Centre has 53 seats. The letter has sought the appointment of a new Prime Minister on a majority basis in accordance with the Article 76 (2) of the Nepal's constitution.
UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and Maoist Centre leader Narayankaji Shrestha were also present on the occasion.
According to President's private secretary Bheshraj Adhikari, the swearing-in ceremony of a new prime minister, if possible, is likely to take place at 4:00 pm today itself. The schedule of today of President's visit to the Pathibhara Festival has been postponed, bearing in mind the commencement of a process for the formation of a new government.
