Ghostekhor hydroelectricity project conducts test production
Babiyachaur, Myagdi, Ghostekhor Micro Hydroelectricity Project has conducted a successful test power production. The project has been constructed to supply power to the tourist areas at Shikha, Annapurna rural municipality-5 in Myagdi district.
The 50-Kilowatt capacity project is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 15 million but the cost is expected to cross Rs 20 million by the time it is completed.
The extra cost is being mobilised at the initiatives of Mahabir Pun, the Magasaysay Award winner and IT campaigner and Bagbir Paija, a local social activist. The project will meet the power needs of the tourist lodges at Dandkharka, Bayali and Khopra. It is said the project will start generating power in full-fledged manner from the third week of this month after the construction of the power house.
