Debate on Writ against appointment of Koshi Province’s CM ends
KATHMANDU, July 26: Debate on the writ petition filed in the Supreme Court, saying the appointment of the Chief Minister in the Koshi Province is unconstitutional, has ended. The debate in the full bench of Justices Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada, Dr. Ananda Mohan Bhattarai and Til Prasad Shrestha ended, but the order has not been given by the bench yet.
A writ petition was filed in the Supreme Court on July 7 on behalf of former Chief Minister and UML Parliamentary Party leader Hikmat Kumar Karki, alleging that Congress Parliamentary Party leader Uddhav Thapa was unconstitutionally appointed Chief Minister.
Karki filed a writ petition against the Provincial Chief Parshuram Khapung, Chief Minister Thapa, and Speaker Baburam Gautam, saying that the signature of Speaker Gautam was also used for the formation of the government. In the writ petition, Karki has also requested the order to appoint himself as the Chief Minister.
