UML leader jailed over cooperative fraud in Pokhara
Pokhara, November 26 — Shankar Narayan Shrestha, a leader of the CPN (UML) from Tanahun, who was arrested on charges of fraud related to a cooperative in Pokhara, has been sent to jail.
He was arrested by the police on Sunday and presented before the court.
The court had set a bail amount of NPR 5 million, but since he was unable to pay the amount, he has been sent to prison.
He is accused of embezzling millions of rupees from the cooperative.
In 2017, he lost in the mayoral election of Vyas Municipality.
He later joined the CPN (Unified Socialist) after party split .
However, he recently rejoined CPN (UML).
