Appeal of 7 including Angtawa Sherpa registered in High Court
KATHMANDU, July 6: 7 people who were detained for allegedly sending fake refugees to America have filed an appeal in the High Court. Patan High Court Registrar Thagindra Kattel told Ratopati that the appeal was filed by 7 people including former MP Angtawa Sherpa and Dr. Indrajit Rai against Kathmandu District Court's order.
Former MP Angtawa Sherpa, Narendra KC, Gobinda Bahadur Chaudhary, former MP Dr. Indrajit Rai, Sanu Bhandari, Haribhakta Maharjan and Lakshmi Maharjan are among the 7 people who filed the appeal to "revoke the order" in accordance to Section-73 of the Criminal Procedure Code 2074.
Kathmandu District Court Judge Prem Prasad Neupane had ordered the detention of 16 people, including former Home Minister Balkrishna Khand, on 16th of June. Lakshmi Maharjan, who appealed to the High Court, was released on a bond of 500 thousand rupees.
