NTB reports over 99,000 tourist arrivals in March, indicating industry recovery from COVID-19 pandemic
APRIL 2: Nepal Tourism Board has revealed that over 99,000 foreign visitors arrived in Nepal in March of this year, a positive sign of recovery for the tourism industry following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Of these visitors, 33,454 were from SAARC nations, 15,643 from other Asian countries, 23,265 from Europe, and 3,958 from Oceania.
The United States contributed 9,557 visitors, while Canada sent 1,707, and the Middle East provided 10,375. The majority of visitors were from India, making up 25,911 of the total tourist arrivals. This number is a significant increase from the 15,013 Indian visitors who arrived in March of the previous year.
Additionally, tourist arrivals from the US almost doubled in comparison to the same period in 2022, where only 4,896 US tourists had visited.
The highest tourist flows came from India, the US, the UK, Germany, and Sri Lanka. The rise in tourist arrivals is a promising indication that Nepal's tourism industry is on a path towards recovery after being severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
