Road Department Urges Evacuation of Public Land Along Mahendra Highway

Mahendranagar. Those constructing temporary/permanent houses without approval have been urged to vacate public land. The Department of Roads has urged to immediately vacate approximately 80 percent of the encroached land of the East-West Mahendra Highway from Gaddachauki in Kanchanpur to Chisapani in Kailali.

If structures built encroaching the road limit are not removed, they will be removed in accordance with Sub-section (3) of Section 19 of the Public Roads Act, 2031, and the expenses incurred for such work will be recovered from the concerned person or organization.

The Road Division Office, Mahendranagar, has issued a fifteen-day notice stating that the road limit is 25/25 meters to the right and left from the center of the road, urging to vacate public land, informed Rajeshkumar Yadav, Chief of the Road Division Office, Mahendranagar.

Temporary shelters, waiting sheds, toilets, and other structures have been built in many places along the 126-kilometer stretch from Gaddachauki to Chisapani for a long time.
