NSU takes to streets demanding relocation of Balaju-based Nepal Gas Company

Kathmandu,  The Nepal Students Union (NSU), the student wing of the Nepali Congress, today staged demonstrations in the Capital demanding relocation of the Balaju-based Nepal Gas Company, a cooking gas refilling plant away from human settlements

 
They with support of the local people protested in front of the Balaju Industrial Zone in the Capital, while picking up a reference to an explosion of a gas refilling plant in Birgunj recently in which two persons were killed and many others were injured. 


NSU’s General Secretary Kundan Raj Kafle, a protestor, asked the concerned authorities to take initiatives to move the gas refilling plant elsewhere away from human settlement. 
“People were burnt alive in an explosion of a gas refilling plant in Birgunj. Our initiatives are to make concerned authorities alert and avoid such incident,” he said. 


Likewise, another agitator Debendra Pathak, chairman of the Nepali Congress ward 16, said as part of their drive, they would start a signature campaign from tomorrow (December 30). 
Central member of the NSU Sushil Bhatta warned of a series-wise protest if their demand is ignored.
