Contractors bar from filing their nominations at the local level where they have acquired any sort of contracts

KATHMANDU, April 20: The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday issued an interim order not to bar contractors from filing their nominations in the upcoming local polls where they do not have any sort of construction contract.

Earlier, the Election Commission had decided to bar the contractors from filing their candidacy in the upcoming local level polls. The construction entrepreneurs had then filed a writ petition against the poll body’s decision at the apex court.

Conducting the hearing on the  case, Justice Nahakul Subedi issued an order to this effect.

Contractors cannot file their nominations at the local level where they have acquired any sort of contracts, reads the order. “They can file nominations in local levels where they do not have any sort of contract.”
