EC scraps its decision to make political parties mandatory to nominate female candidate if it is vying for single post
KATHMANDU, April 12: The Election Commission (EC) has scrapped its decision to make political parties mandatory to nominate a female candidate if it is filing nomination for a single post in the upcoming local level election.
Earlier, the poll body had made it mandatory for those political parties to nominate a female candidate if it is filing nomination only for a post of mayor or deputy mayor or chairman or vice-chairman in the upcoming local level polls.
The poll body’s decision comes after the political parties opposed the EC’s move and drew its attention.
