UML to field Byanjankar as candidate for Lalitpur’s Mayor
KATHMANDU, April 10: The main opposition party, CPN-UML, has decided to field Hari Krishna Byanjankar as its candidate for the post of mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City in the upcoming local level polls.
“I have been unanimously selected for the post of mayor of Lalitpur metropolis,” Byanjankar told Ratopati.
According to Byanjankar, two people have claimed their candidacy for the post of deputy-mayor in the metropolis namely Astha Shakya, chairman of the party's metropolis committee and Saraswati Khadka, member of the party's provincial committee.
“The central level of the party will decide on the issue,” he further added.
Byanjankar is a member of UML’s central committee and Lalitpur district deputy incharge.
Byanjankar was defeated by Chiribabu Maharjan, candidate of Nepali Congress, by only three votes in the local level election, 2074 BS.
