High-level Coordination Committee holds meeting
Discussing MCC, PM Deuba's India visit and NA polls
KATHMANDU, Jan 6: A meeting of the High-level Coordination Committee is being held at the Baluwatar, Kathmandu-based official residence of the prime minister.
The committee presided by Nepali Congress (NC) leader Ram Chandra Poudel comprises the major leader of the five political parties belonging to the ruling coalition. Along with Poudel, Krishna Prasad Siatual of NC< Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and Narayan Kaji Shrestha of CPN (Maoist Center), Madhav Kumar Nepal of CPN (Unified Socialist), Upendra Yadav of Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) and Chitra Bahadur KC and Durga Poudel of Rastriya Janamorcha are other members of the committee.
In the meeting that began at 9 AM, Thursday, the leaders are discussing forthcoming National Assembly (NA) elections, scheduled India visit of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
The meeting is also scheduled to discuss the continued House obstruction by the main opposition CPN-UML, according to Chiranjeevi Adhikari, a personal aide to leader Poudel. Earlier, Poudel held a meeting with UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli.
The main opposition has been obstructing the meetings of the House of Representatives (HoR) since September 8.
