Prohibitory order imposed in Sarlahi until Wednesday evening
SARLAHI, Dec 28: The District Administration Office, Sarlahi has imposed a prohibitory order to take control of the conflicting situation in the Bayalbas area of Ishwarpur Municipality.
The order is applied in Ward 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9 of the Municipality and remains cordoned off, said Chief District Officer, Thaneshwor Gautam.
The prohibitory order came into effect from 3 PM on Tuesday and will remain in place until 7 PM on Wednesday.
The order was enforced to control the adverse situation that has surfaced after the dispute escalated since a local was killed in a road accident on Sunday evening.
Local resident Ram Kumar Mahato was killed in a road accident that took place at around 9 PM on Sunday. Mahato, who was riding a motorcycle, collided with a patrolling police van. After the dispute over the issue escalated, the then Chief District Officer Baburam Khatiwada was recalled to the Home Ministry and Gautam was sent to Sarlahi to replace Khatiwada.
In the course of the protests, the irate locals torched a police van while about 15 security personnel were injured in the clashes, according to the District Police Office, Sarlahi.
