Nomination withdrawal period extended by one and half hours
KATHMANDU, December 12: The Nepali Congress (NC), the ruling party, has extended the nomination withdrawal period by one and half hours.
Earlier the election committee had granted the time till 11 AM today to candidates willing to withdraw their nominations. The time has now been extended to 12:30 PM.
Earlier on Saturday, as many as 548 candidates filed their nominations for 134 positions on the central executive committee of the NC in the ongoing 14th General Convention.
As many as 4,743 representatives will cast their votes to elect new leaderships in the party on Monday.
Yubraj Neupane, Kalyan Gurung and Bimalendra Nidhi are vying for the post. Similarly, Prakash Man Singh, Dr Shekhar Koirala and Sher Bahadur Deuba also registered their candidacy for the same.
Seven other candidates filed their candidates for the position of NC vice president. Purna Bahadur Khadka, Mahesh Acharya, Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar, Sujata Koirala, Dr Chandra Bhandari, Dhanraj Gurung and Divya Shree Pariyar are among the candidates for vice presidential positions.
The NC delegates from all across the country will elect two vice presidents and general secretaries each.
Similarly, Dr Minendra Rijal, Gagan Thapa, Bishwo Prakash Sharma, Prakash Sharan Mahat, Raja Ram Karki and Pradeep Poudel are all set to contest for two general secretarial positions.
As many as twenty candidates filed their nominations for eight positions of joint secretaries-general.
