Poudel faction’s meeting ends inconclusively, fails to forge consensus for a common presidential candidate
KATHMANDU: As the clock is ticking for the nomination of candidates for various office bearer positions including the presidential positions, the rival faction of the Nepali Congress (NC) led by senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel is yet to crack a nut to field a common candidate for the top executive position.
The leaders close to the faction held a meeting in the capital on Friday night. The meeting, which primarily dwelt on hammering out a common presidential candidate, ended inconclusively.
The leaders close to the faction even skipped the party’s closed-door session in a bid to nominate a consensus candidate. The attempt, however, couldn’t turn fruitful as the aspirants duo ---Prakash Man Singh and Shekhar Koirala insisted on vying for the position.
According to a leader close to the faction, the final round of the meeting would be held on Saturday as well.
