Poudel to attend inauguration of NC’s 14th Gen Convention following Nidhi’s call
Nidhi, an aspirant for the post of party’s President, urges Deuba to recommend Poudel as the new President of the party through consensus.
KATHMANDU, December 10: At the time when the senior leader of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) Ram Chandra Poudel was expected to skip the inauguration ceremony of the 14th General Convention of the party, Vice-President Bimalendra Nidhi on Friday contacted him on phone and requested him to attend the event.
On his part, Poudel has agreed to join the mega showdown of the party.
Earlier, on Thursday Poudel had maintained to resign from politics and skip the inauguration ceremony after failing to reach consensus to select a common candidate from the rival faction against Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba with leaders Prakash Man Singh and Shekar Koirala.
Likewise, Nidhi, who is also vying for the post of party’s President in the convention, urged PM Deuba who is feilding himself for the post, to recommend Poudel as the new President of the party through consensus sending a message of party unity all across the country. Deuba has already been the PM of the country for five times. It would be better if he recommends Poudel as the next President of the party, Nidhi told Ratopati.
