Maoist SC meeting: Size of provincial executive committee increased
Number of office bearers will be 9 from 7
KATHMANDU: The ruling CPN (Maoist Center) has increased the size of the provincial executive committee.
A Standing Committee meeting held on Thursday decided to increase the number of office-bearers and executive members in the provincial bodies.
With this, the number of office bearer positions has reached nine from seven.
Krishna Bahadur Mahara, the party spokesperson said that each of the seven provinces will have a chair, three vice-chairs, a general secretary, three joint secretaries and a treasurer.
Similarly, the 175-member provincial committee will now be of different sizes as per the number of electoral constituencies and local units in the respective provinces.
With the latest amendment, Province 1 will have a 259-member provincial committee compared to 271-member in Province 2, 275 in Bagmati and 229 in Gandaki provinces.
Similarly, Lumbini will have a 253-member province committee while Karnali and Sudur Paschim provinces will constitute 211 and 223-member provincial committees.
