Opposition faction’s aspirants for post of party’s Prez fail to attend meeting summoned to select common candidate
KATHMANDU, Dec 8: Factions within the ruling Nepali Congress, one headed by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and other by leader Ram Chandra Poudel, are currently holding discussions to select candidates from their side for upcoming 14th General Convention of the party.
Even if leader Shashank Koirala withdraws his decision to file their candidacy for the post of President of the party, and another leader Ram Chandra Poudel is soon to follow, leaders Prakash Man Singh and Shekar Koirala have been reluctant to vie for the post.
With the view of standing strong against PM Deuba in the upcoming party election, youth leaders have sought a common candidate from among the aspiring leaders by Thursday.
In this regard, a meeting of the faction is being held at Battisputali, Kathmandu, leaders who have been aspiring to field themselves for the post of party’s President have not attended the meeting. The meeting began earlier today at 9:30 AM.
