Chairman Lingden summons CC meeting, Thapa to boycott

KATHMANDU, December 8: The newly elected Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Rajendra Prasad Lingden summoned a Central Committee (CC) meeting on Wednesday.

The meeting is scheduled to be held at the party's headquarters at Dhumbarahi in Kathmandu. Leaders close to Chairman Lingden and the Central Committee members are expected to attend the meeting.

Meanwhile, the outgoing Chairman Kamal Thapa who was defeated by Lingden in an election held during the party’s recently concluded Unity Convention, has announced to boycott the meeting.

Thapa has also demanded investigation of external intervention during the election. Thapa has been accusing former king Gyanendra of interfering in the election. “Nirmal Niwas has not only interfered in this election but has been interfering in the party's interest for a long time,” reads a press statement issued by Thapa.

According to Janak Raj Patak, newly elected CC member, the meeting is scheduled to be held at 12:30 PM.
