Nepal beats Malaysia to register first victory in ICC Women's World T20 Asia qualifier

 

 

Kathmandu,  Nepal registered its maiden victory in the ICC Women's World T20 Asia qualifier underway in Thailand by defeating Malaysia in its fourth match held today. 
In the match organised in the ground of Bangkok-based Asian Institute of Technology, the Nepali women cricket team won the match against Malaysia by 33 runs. 
Nepal, who were invited to bat first after losing the toss, secured 108 runs in limited 20 overs at the loss of 6 wickets. In reply, the Malaysian team finished the game with 75 runs in its account at limited 20 overs at the loss of 7 wickets. 
In the previous three matches, Nepal shared points with Thailand and Hong Kong in two rain-affected matches and lost one match to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). 
In the today's match, Nepali team's Sita Rana Magar made 37 runs hitting three fours, the highest in the match, in 42 balls. Jyoti Pandey and Kajol Shrestha contributed 21 and 18 runs respectively to the team. 
Karuna Bhandari alone took three wickets in course of restricting the rival team to 75 runs. Sonu Khadka, Sita Rana Magar, Ritu Kanaujiya and Neri Thapa took one wicket each. 
Nepal will meet China for its next match on November 26.
