COVID-19 scare: 445 people die in just 35 days

 

KATHMANDU, May 6: At least 445 people have succumbed to the coronavirus disease since April 1 earlier this year. 

Triggered by the new variant of the virus, the second wave is ravaging the country at its worst. Officials in the health ministry confirmed 58 fatalities caused by the disease on Wednesday alone, which is the highest single-day number of deaths ever recorded in the country since the first fatality was reported on May 16, 2020. 

According to the data released by the ministry, daily death-count until April 11 was less than 10. No death was reported on April 4, 6, 8 and 9. However, it began soaring as the second wave spread across the country especially in the Kathmandu Valley 

This has taken the country’s fatality tally to 3,475.
