Lumbini Province: Bimala Khatri joins Maoist party:CM Pokharel in minitory

BUTWAL, May 1: Bimala Khatri, a Lumbini Province Assembly member, has decided to join the CPN (Maoist Center).

Khatri,  who was elected as an assembly representing the then Nepal Communist Party (NCP) from Dang 3 (B) through a by-election held in November, 2019 after former lawmaker and her husband Uttar Kumar Oli died in a road accident, opted to stay with the Maoist party.

The Supreme Court, however, invalidated the NCP through its February 23 order.
Writing a letter to Kul Prasad KC, parliamentary party leader of the Maoist Center, she informed that she joined the Maoist party.

Following her decision to join the Maoist party, Chief Minister Shanker Pokharel, who was preparing to form a majority government under his leadership, has lost majority in the assembly. Now, the ruling CPN-UML has a total of 40 members in the assembly.
