Health insurance to media persons

Kathmandu - The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Nuwakot chapter has decided to manage life insurance to the media persons who are working in the forefront of national campaign for prevention and control of coronavirus in the district. Bidur Municipality and Rudek Nepal assisted financial support for the scheme.

As per the insurance, Rs 100 thousand is allocated to each journalist working actively in the district. A total of 95 journalists would be benefited with the scheme, said FNJ district chapter Chair Kapildev Khanal. As per the agreement, if any journalist is found infected with COVID-19, he/she could claim the insurance amount from Siddhartha Insurance.

Mayor Sanju Pandit said they supported the scheme to ensure health safety to working journalists as they are in frontline in this critical hour of pandemic situation. Similarly, Rudek Chair Min Kumar KC said they supported the programme as it was collective effort to combat the deadly COVID-19 outbreak with encouragement to the media persons.
