Govt to prioritize infrastructures in budget to control communicable disease

Kathmandu - Along with the efforts underway to control the COVID-19, the government has planned to raise health infrastructures needed to control the communicable disease. Preparation is on to prioritize it in the coming annual policy and programmes and budget. Minister for Health and Population, Bhanubhakta Dhakal, shared that he had initiated consultations with the members of the federal parliament on the health related issues to be incorporated in the forthcoming policy and programmes and budget.

During the meeting with the parliamentarians, the Minister was suggested for the development of health related infrastructures. The Ministry has planned to increase its budget from the current Rs 122 billion. During the consultative meeting with the lawmakers from State-1, Minister Dhakal shared the plan that every State will have a 50-bed hospital to treat communicable disease along with public health laboratory.

In the capital, a training centre would be established to produce necessary human resources. Similarly, a 300-bed hospital to treat communicable disease will be set up in the federal capital. Even the district hospitals will be upgraded, according to the Minister. "We're determined to work substantially in the health sector, giving a surprise that such big achievement happens even in the face of coronavirus," he said.
