NC demands government arrange safe travel of people back to their villages

Kathmandu - The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) has urged the government to make arrangements for ensuring enough relief assistance to those facing trouble due to the extension of lockdown against coronavirus and facilitating them to reach homes safely.

The party has insisted on the need of State's support to the people heading homes miles away on foot during lockdown. In a press statement issued by party Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma, it is said that this was not a time to looking for a human tragedy inside room and in the street.

The village life is becoming more painful due to the extension of lockdown, the party said, urging the government to ensure their basic/ survival needs first.

The party has demanded a special relief package for landless people, workers, unemployed and students residing in rented rooms. It has appealed to the government to expand the coronavirus testing coverage and come up with enough relief assistance to prevent people from hunger.
