Youth Wing of CPN-UML Launches 'Renaissance Campaign-2082' for Party Reform

Kathmandu. Youth associated with CPN-UML, who are in favor of party restructuring and transformation, have started a survey of opinions under the 'Renaissance Campaign-2082' for party transformation and restructuring.

Their statement is that the campaign, which started on Ashad 12, will be conducted for 10 days until Ashad 22. For this, 18 different questions have been asked openly through a Google form. Through the form, organized members, supporters, well-wishers of UML, and independent citizens in the country and abroad can give suggestions.

The main objective of the campaign is to collect the direct views of the workers and well-wishers on the future direction of the party, leadership transition, organizational restructuring, generational change, and internal democratization, informed Gajendra Thapaliya, a leader of the campaign.

Thapaliya stated that the suggestions of the participants in the survey conducted through the Google form will be kept confidential, and the obtained conclusions will be formally submitted to the party.

A task force led by UML Vice-Chairman Ram Bahadur Thapa 'Badal' is collecting suggestions by visiting various provinces regarding election review and party restructuring. However, since those suggestions will be only of limited leaders and workers, Gajendra Thapaliya, who is also the Chairman of the Intellectual Council close to UML and the coordinator of the Renaissance Campaign for UML Transformation and Restructuring, said that the campaign had to be started to understand the views of grassroots workers, supporters, well-wishers, and independent citizens, as well as leaders and workers of other parties.

While the party is advancing the debate on restructuring and transformation, Thapaliya says that the campaign aims to reach all UML supporters in the country and abroad and collect their views, as the direct suggestions of workers and well-wishers have not been taken.

According to him, the collected suggestions will be submitted to the task force led by Vice-Chairman Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal.

'Only by transforming, handing over, and changing generations in UML can the damage being done to the communist movement in Nepal at a rapid pace be stopped, otherwise the communist movement will sink underground in such a way that it will never rise again in Nepal in the future,' is written at the very top of the form prepared for the survey, 'Consequently, the movement and dream of Nepal's nationality and prosperity will be shattered there. Therefore, we are conducting this survey campaign to understand your views in this important campaign, and we expect your valuable suggestions in this campaign.'

'Your views and votes will be kept completely confidential according to the principle of survey confidentiality,' the participants are being assured.

Previously, the same group had conducted a survey on issues such as the 70-year age limit and 2 terms in the UML's statute general convention. That survey was sealed and submitted to the party leadership. However, the results of this survey will be made public, according to leader Thapaliya.
