Pokhara Metropolitan City Intensifies Drive to Remove Unauthorized Parking on Footpaths

Pokhara. Pokhara Metropolitan City has intensified its campaign to remove unauthorized parking on the footpaths in the New Road area. The footpaths in the New Road area, falling under wards number 8 and 9 of the metropolis, are being cleared for the convenience of pedestrians.

According to Nagar Police Inspector Purushottam Thapa, this step has been taken because parking vehicles on the footpath, which is exclusively for pedestrians, obstructs movement and increases the risk of accidents. He clarified that parking should only be done in designated locations specified by the Metropolitan City, and vehicle owners must manage their vehicles in other areas.

Before starting this campaign, the Metropolitan City informed the city dwellers about it by making announcements for three consecutive days from last Friday to Sunday. Action has been initiated against vehicles that disregard the notice from today. The Nagar Police stated that 8 motorcycles parked on the footpath were impounded on Monday alone.

Nagar Police Inspector Thapa said that stricter measures will be implemented from Tuesday. He stated that in the coming days, if parking is found on the footpath, vehicle owners will not be handed over their vehicles immediately, and those vehicles will be impounded and sent to the District Traffic Police Office for strict action as per regulations. The Metropolitan City has urged all vehicle owners and city dwellers to help clear the footpaths and reduce traffic congestion and potential accidents on the roads.
