Writ against Regal scheduled for hearing in SC on Thursday
KATHMANDU, Oct 4: The writ filed on the Supreme Court against the President’s decision to exempt Yograj Dhakal ‘Regal’ of Nepalgunj from imprisonment, has been scheduled for a hearing on Thursday. Regal had murdered Chetan Manandhar of Nepalgunj by hitting him with a ‘Khundaa’, a sharp and heavy weapon.
Bharati Sherpa, the wife of Chetan, had filed a writ to the Supreme Court on Sunday, demanding the annulment of the President’s decision to exempt Regal from imprisonment and send him back to prison again.
She has also demanded that the decision of the District Jail and the District Administration Office Dang, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Attorney General's Office, and the Council of Ministers, to recommend Regal’s exemption from imprisonment, should be annulled.
The writ was scheduled for hearing twice, but the Supreme Court Justices were unable to hear the writ due to a lack of time.
Dhakal murdered 29-year-old Chetan Manandhar on the 14th of July, 2015, and escaped to India, and then the Police arrested him and brought him back to Nepal.
