KMC Mayor Shah and Deputy Mayor Dangol pay tribute to late Singh
Kathmandu, December 16 — Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), Balendra Shah (Balen) and Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol paid tribute to former mayor PL Singh.
Shah and Dangol reached Chaksibari where the late Singh's mortal remains are kept and paid their last respects by offering flowers to the body. They also extended condolences to the bereaved family.
KMC spokesman Nabin Manandhar, KMC Town Council members and employees also paid last respects to Singh offering flowers to the mortal remains.
Former mayor Singh passed away this morning. He was 88.
Singh had been living in Thamel Chaksibari of late. He underwent an operation last year after suffering from peptic ulcer. Born on Chait 11, 1996 BS, Singh was elected the Mayor of Kathmandu Municipality in 2049 BS.
It was during his mayoral term that Kathmandu Municipality was declared as a Metropolitan City in 2052 BS.
KMC has observed a condolence holiday today, suspending works except the emergency ones at the KMC Central Office and all the Ward Offices to mourn Singh's demise.
