Maoist Center to run month-long signature campaign against Israeli genocide of Palestinians

Kathmandu, December 16 — The main opposition party, CPN (Maoist Centre), has directed its affiliates to run a month-long signature campaign in major cities against the Israeli genocide of Palestinians.

General Secretary Dev Gurung has instructed all party organizations, including youth and frontal organizations, to initiate the campaign from December 16.

The signature campaign had commenced at Ratnapark's Shantibatika on December 9.

The signature drive was attended by prominent political figures, including former Prime Minister and Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda), former Prime Ministers Madhav Kumar Nepal and Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, among leaders from various parties.

However, leaders from the ruling parties such as the Nepali Congress, UML, Janamat Party, and opposition parties like RSP and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) did not participate in the event.

To implement this initiative, General Secretary Gurung has issued a circular for the signature campaign to be carried out in provincial capitals and major cities across the country.

The campaign will run from December 16 for one month, and banners and sample signature forms have been sent to all relevant organizations.

Gurung emphasized that the purpose of the campaign is to exert international pressure on Israel, citing the violation of UN charters, international law, and human rights in the ongoing Palestinian genocide.

He also highlighted that despite the International Criminal Court issuing arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the genocide has not ceased.
