Supreme Court gives permission to detain Advocate KC

KATHMANDU, Sep 1: The Supreme Court has given the permission to detain Advocate Bhoj Bahadur KC, who is under police surveillance on the charge of rape.

An arrest warrant had been issued against KC after being accused of rape by a 48-year-old woman. KC, however, was admitted to hospital due to an alleged heart problem after the police came to arrest him.

He was admitted to the Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Centre for treatment. But a habeas corpus was registered in the Supreme Court by Sharan Mijar from Bhoj Bahadur's side while he was still in the hospital.

On August 20, the single bench of Acting Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha issued a show cause order to appear in the court along with the captive for a hearing.

The bench of Justices Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada and Sushmalata Mathema dismissed the habeas corpus after Thankot Police Circle submitted their documents. With this, the Police have obtained permission to detain him.
