Nepse index increases by 6.53 points, market continues upward trend

Kathmandu, January 8 — The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index has risen by 6.53 points on Wednesday, marking its sixth consecutive day of gains.

The index now stands at 2,653 points.

A total of NPR 6.4 billion worth of shares were traded today, with the highest transaction recorded in Nyadi Hydroelectric Company, which saw shares worth NPR 22.53 billion being traded.

On Wednesday, 139 companies saw an increase in their stock prices.

Among them, Samriddhi Finance and Sindhu Development Bank saw positive circuit breakers.

Shares of Chirkhwa Hydro, Saptakoshi Development Bank, and Nyadi Hydro rose by 9%.

However, 93 companies saw a decline in their share prices, with Saamudaayik Microfinance and Barahi Hydro facing negative circuit breakers, with Barahi Hydro’s shares dropping by 9%.

The finance sector showed strong performance, with a 4.77% overall increase in the group, as the shares of all 15 finance companies saw a rise.
