Writ filed against amnesty of Resham Chaudhary, hearing scheduled for tomorrow

KATHMANDU, May 30: A writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court against the amnesty of the mastermind of the Tikapur incident granted by the President.

Sharada Bohara, the wife of the security personnel Keshab Bohara, who was killed in the Tikapur incident, filed a writ petition claiming the decision of Chaudhary's amnesty as unconstitutional.

According to the Supreme Court Administration, the writ filed has been registered and is scheduled for hearing tomorrow on Wednesday.

On the recommendation of the government, President Ramchandra Paudel granted amnesty to Resham Chaudhary and Chaudhary was released on Monday. Chaudhary was found guilty in the Tikapur incident by all three levels of court and was sentenced to life imprisonment.
