Chief Minister Shahi aggrieved over Humla jeep accident

Surkhet–Karnali state government chief minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has expressed deep sorrow over the jeep accident Tuesday at Yakchukuna, Kharpunath rural municipality-5 in Humla district in which 10 passengers including the rural municipality vice-chair Sindhu Hamal Shahi have gone missing.

The accident took place when the jeep (Lu 1 Ja 7166) heading towards Kailebalu veered off the road and plunged into the Karnali river.

The people on board the jeep have gone missing in the Karnali river. In a press release issued here on Tuesday, Chief Minister Shahi said that the Karnali state government has been shocked by the accident and requests the security personnel involved in the search and rescue operation, the local people and all stakeholders for cooperation in the search and rescue of the missing passengers.

He has expressed sympathies to the families of the people gone missing in the accident.

The Chief Minister also stated in the press note that a security team was mobilized to the accident site for search and rescue soon after the information of the accident was received but the search and rescue works could not be successful due to the treacherous location, rapid river current and the shortage of skilled human resources.

He added that initiatives are being made to mobilize skilled manpower for further search and rescue.
