One arrested for misbehaving with journalists

Surkhet–The District Police have arrested Gyan Bahadur Shahi (Gyanendra), 32, on charge of misbehaving with journalists.

Shahi was arrested acting on a complaint saying Shahi damaged the prestige of media persons by calling journalists of Karnali state thieves and dogs through Facebook on May 1, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Pradeep Bahadur Chhetri, Spokesperson for the District Police Office.

The written complaint was filed in the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu through District Police Office, by Surkhet chapter president of Federation of Nepali Journalists, Durga Thapa, and FNJ state committee president, Ganesh Kanchan Bharati.

The police filed a cyber crime case against Shahi, he said. Likewise, two women and six men have also been arrested when they tried to intervene the arrest of Shahi.

Inspector Niranjan Ghimire, police head constable Prakash Budha, security personnel—Jit Bahadur Bohora, Hasta Singh, Ram Sagar Barma and Pawan Subedi were injured in the incident.
