Make good conducts with drivers, IGP to traffic police

Kathmandu– Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sarbendra Khanal has stressed the need to make the valley traffic management a model of the country.

In his address to traffic police officers of Kathmandu Metropolitan Traffic Police Division on Sunday, he also directed his fellow staffs to work for standard traffic management across the country.

"Traffic police should behave vehicle drivers in a polite and gentle manner. Our service should make the public feel proud of us", he said. The IGP also noted that the incentive allowance has boosted up the confidence of traffic police working in the Valley and urged the duty bearers to better the delivery of service.

Division Chief and Senior Superintendant of Police (SSP) Basanta Kumar Pant informed the Division has been working in line with its three month action plan for valley traffic reforms. Presently there are around 1,500 traffic police in service in the Kathmandu Valley.

According to the Department of Transport Management, there are over 3.2 million public vehicles while Kathmandu alone has 1.1 million vehicles. ---
