Propounder of 'Afno Gaun Afai Banaun' leader Adhikari

Kathmandu–Late Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari joined the social sector from the legal profession and he was also a very good economic expert. 


A tireless fighter of Nepal communist movement, Adhikari died at age 83 at the HAMS hospital in the capital on Saturday night. Born to father Ram Chandra Adhikari and mother Purna Kumari Devi as the youngest son on Baisakh 22, 1993 B.S., he was actively involved in the communist party of Nepal after starting the process through the Indian communist party in 1952. 


Adhikari is considered as the architect of the 'Afno Gaun Afai Banau' programme when he was the finance minister is the first communist government led by his brother, then Chair of the CPN-UML Bharat Mohan Adhikari in 2051 B.S. Likewise, the initiation of social security allowance, starting with the elderly population, and other popular and welfare programmes are credited to the late leader. 


He also played a vital role in the establishment of the Manmohan Polytechnic Institute in Hattimudha of Morang as the chair of the Manmohan Memorial Foundation. He also one of the drafters of the Constitution of Nepal 2047 and played a significant role in forging a unity between then CPN-UML and CPN-Marxist. 


Adhikari assumed the post of the Minister of Finance on four different occasions and became deputy Prime Minister twice.
