NA meeting passes proposal on National Medical Education Bill

Kathmandu– Today's second meeting of the National Assembly unanimously endorsed a proposal seeking consideration on 'the National Medical Education Bill, 2075'.

Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel presented the proposal on the Bill with message received from the House of Representatives.

The bill was passed by the House with majority amid a protest by main opposition Nepali Congress. The first NA meeting could not proceed due to NC's protest.

NC lawmaker Radhe Shyam Adhikari said at the meeting that they resorted to the protest as the bill was pushed in violation of a parliamentary decorum.

He also demanded that talks be initiated after forming a talks team to end the problem surrounding the bill, while accusing the government of apathy towards Dr Govinda KC, who is on a fast-onto-death demanding a passage of the bill in line with the agreement made with him earlier.
NA will next meet at 2 pm on January 31.
