First meeting of Karnali Province's provincial coordination council commences

Surkhet– A first meeting of the provincial coordination council of Karnali Province has begun today in Birendranagar, the capital of Surkhet district. The meeting aims to reach uniformity on road construction and the use, management and identification of natural resources of the province and clarify rights of all levels. 


"We are in confusion on federal setup. The meeting will clarify the issue and the structuring of the province and local level, and find ways to carry out development activities through cooperation among the three governments," said Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi while inaugurating the meeting. 


Referring to Karnali failing to have expected development despite budget pouring in, he said, "We are in the phase of law-making. So the meeting will also concentrate on formulating laws." The two-day meeting will also issue a declaration. 
The meeting has been attended by the province's speaker, ministers, members of federal parliament and state assembly, chief and deputy chief of the district coordination committee, mayor and deputy mayor of municipalities, chairperson and vice chairperson of rural municipalities, district coordination officer and chief administrative officer of local levels.
