Ministry directs stakeholders to fix the loose, unsystematic cables

Kathmandu The Ministry of Information and Communications has directed the Nepal Telecom and cable service provider companies to fix the loose cables that have faded the beauty of the city within a month.

The Ministry issued such directive on Tuesday after holding an interaction with the officials of different other ministries and the representatives of the stakeholders.

Earlier, the meeting conducted with the coordination of National Development Problem Resolution Committee, Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority and the Ministry of Information and Communications had also directed to manage the electric and telephone cables within a week.

Likewise, the Ministry has also directed the cable television and cable internet service providing companies to paste the sticker of the company concerned in the poles for the easy identity.

On the occasion, Minister for Information and Communications Mohan Bahadur Basnet said that collective commitment was needed for making the city neat, clean, systematic and risk-free.

He said that the concerned bodies should take responsibility for the reforms of such stating that the scattered and loose cables would invite accidents and fade the beauty of the city.

On the occasion, Ministry's Secretary Mahendra Man Gurung, Secretary at the Ministry of Urban Development Dipendra Nath Sharma, Nepal Telecommunications Authority Chairman Digambar Jha and representatives of the National Planning Commission, Finance Ministry, Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Lalitpur Metropolitan City, cable network agencies' association and others expressed their commitment to support the initiative of the Ministry of Information and Communications to make it a success.
