UML sets up natural disaster relief fund

Kathmandu - The lawmakers of the CPN (Maoist Centre) have decided to donate their one month's salary for the flood and landslide affected people across the country.

A meeting of the party's parliamentary board held Monday in the central office too this decision while also urging the government to immediately manage necessary relief and support to the flood affected people.

Chief Whip of the party parliamentary Rekha Sharma said that the lawmakers of the flood affected areas have been directed to visit the affected site and work for rescue, relief and treatment of the survivors.

On the occasion, party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' directed the lawmakers to work to heal the wounds of the affected people by being committed and leave no stone unturned for rescue and relief of the flood and landslide affected ones.

Sharma said that Chairman Prachanda has also directed the party lawmakers even to work for relief and rehabilitation by visiting the affected areas.

Meanwhile, the opposition CPN (UML) has set up a natural disaster relief fund in its attempt to provide relief and assistance to the flood affected population.

The central secretariat meeting of the UML has decided to collect the fund in account number 0210300717917 of Agriculture Development Bank in Kalimati Branch.

The meeting also expressed grief over the demise of many lives and expressed heartfelt condolence to the bereaved families.

The party has also demanded the government make arrangements for search of those missing in the floods and health care services to the survivors.
