Ramesh Poudel Barred from Registrar Interview After Name Added Post-Schedule

Kathmandu. Ramesh Poudel, whose name was added after the interview date for the Registrar of the Nepal Ayurveda Medical Council, has been prevented from giving an interview and presentation. According to a decision by the committee formed to recommend candidates for the appointment of officials in various councils, hospitals, and boards last Friday, the Ministry of Health and Food Hygiene published a notice including Ramesh Poudel in the interview process. The council's interview was scheduled for today. However, his interview was not conducted. Ajay Kumar Chaudhary, Pushpa Raj Poudel, Buddhi Prasad Poudel, Bishun Dayal Prasad Patel, and Harisharan Aryal have been interviewed for the post of Registrar of the Council. However, Dr. Poudel, after appearing at the interview venue today and even marking his attendance, was sent back without participating in the interview.

The Nepal Ayurveda Doctors Association has expressed serious concern over the treatment meted out to the senior vice-president of the association, Dr. Poudel, in the selection process for the Registrar of the Nepal Ayurveda Medical Council.

Issuing a statement today, Monday, the association stated that it is extremely unfortunate, unjust, and contrary to the principles of natural justice that Dr. Poudel's name was not included in the published preliminary shortlist despite meeting the qualifications and prescribed criteria, his name was subsequently included for the interview after the candidate's application, but he was sent back without participating in the interview after appearing at the interview venue today and marking his attendance.

The association has urged the concerned bodies to conduct an impartial investigation into the entire selection and interview process and make the facts public, to provide just redressal for the injustice done to the candidate, and to ensure a transparent, impartial, and legal appointment process so that such incidents do not happen again in the future.

The issuance of a notice adding a new person's name after the interview date had already been set had raised questions about the transparency, impartiality, and procedural maturity of the selection process.
