LP Gas Industry Association Urges Consumers Not to Hoard Cylinders

Chitwan. The Nepal LP Gas Industry Association has urged consumers not to hoard more than necessary. According to the association, although the import and supply of gas are regular, a temporary shortage has appeared because reserve cylinders were filled at once.

According to the president of the Nepal LP Gas Industry Association, Dewan Chand, the amount of gas coming from India has not decreased. About 100 bullet gas is being supplied daily compared to the past. He said, “The amount of gas that Nepal Oil Corporation used to bring and we used to supply is still being supplied in the same quantity.” According to him, the shortage in the market has appeared because consumers have started keeping gas in reserve. He stated that the current problem will be resolved if consumers do not stock extra gas.

A member of the LP Gas Industry Association, Bimal Kalakheti, said that although they had suggested providing full cylinders quickly, the delay has had an impact now. He said that there will be no problem as the required amount of gas is arriving in normal circumstances.

Currently, there are 15 million cylinders in the market. Of these, 5 million cylinders are with gas depots. The government had started distributing half cylinders of gas from February 28. There are currently 59 LP gas industries in Nepal.
