Nagdhunga-Sisnekhola Tunnel Officially Inaugurated

Kathmandu. The Nagdhunga–Sisnekhola tunnel was officially inaugurated on Monday. The tunnel was formally inaugurated through a special ceremony attended by Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Sunil Lamsal, Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Maeda Toru, and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) President Dr. Tanaka Akihiko.

This tunnel, inaugurated after seven years, is expected to contribute significantly to managing vehicle congestion at the entrance of the Kathmandu Valley, saving travel time, and developing safe and modern road infrastructure once it becomes operational.

During the inauguration, Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Sunil Lamsal stated that the country has now entered the tunnel era. He mentioned that tunnels will be built across the country to facilitate transportation.

Minister Lamsal also stated that the foundation stone plaque placed during the groundbreaking of the Nagdhunga tunnel will be reinstalled. He said this while speaking to journalists after the official inauguration.
