Man Arrested for Extorting Money with Fake Revolver in Rupandehi

Kathmandu. One person has been arrested from Shantinagar, Ward No. 13 of Siddharthanagar Municipality in Rupandehi, who was roaming around demanding money from the public by showing a fake revolver, claiming to be a roaming police officer.

The arrested person has been identified as 49-year-old Rakesh Pratap Rana, a resident of Ward No. 13 of Siddharthanagar Municipality and currently renting a room in Balapur, Ward No. 04 of Omsatiya Rural Municipality.

On Friday, August 8, around 7:30 PM, in the Bhairahawa bazaar area, Rana was demanding Rs. 10,000 from the public by showing a pistol, claiming to be a roaming officer of the District Police Office, Rupandehi. Upon receiving information about this, a team led by a Police Inspector from the District Police Office, Rupandehi, was mobilized.

During the search of his body and rented room, one fake revolver hidden in the room, one driving license, 500 grams of marijuana (narcotic drug), one Vivo company Android mobile, and Rs. 2,600 in Nepali cash were recovered. Further investigation into the incident is underway at the District Police Office, Rupandehi, with the recovered materials.
