Pakistan to Export 60,000 Tons of Rice to China

Karachi. Pakistan will export 60,000 tons of rice to China's Guangzhou and Shenzhen provinces in the fiscal year 2026/27. This export agreement has been made after Pakistan's Rice Exporters Association (REAP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with these two provinces of China.

According to Javed Jillani, Vice Chairman of REAP, rice worth approximately 300 million to 400 million US dollars is expected to be exported under the new agreement. He also stated that a 20-member REAP delegation was on a visit to China until July 28, and this visit has been very fruitful. According to Jillani, Pakistan exported rice worth 124 million US dollars to China in the fiscal year 2025/26. Under the new agreement, Pakistan will export both Basmati and non-Basmati varieties of rice to China.

He informed that China has started the registration process for Pakistani traders to export corn, and claimed that corn will also be exported from Pakistan in the near future. According to REAP, rice is Pakistan's second largest export sector after the textile industry, contributing about 2 billion US dollars annually to the country's economy. The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) has facilitated this visit.
