Nepal Reiterates Stance on West Asia Conflict, Discusses Rescue Efforts

Kathmandu. The Government of Nepal has reiterated its stance on the escalating conflict in West Asia. Stating that the conflict has escalated due to the non-adherence to peace agreements, the government has emphasized the need to find a permanent solution through dialogue and diplomatic means.

Speaking at a regular press conference on Friday, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson and Joint Secretary Lok Bahadur Poudel Chhetri said that the ongoing conflict in West Asia has had a global impact, and Nepal is not unaffected. According to him, it has also affected Nepal's economy.

Spokesperson Chhetri informed that the Government of Nepal supports the international efforts being made to bring the Strait of Hormuz into operation. He also stated that Nepali citizens in the area are safe and no problems have been observed so far.

He urged Nepalis to contact the concerned Nepali mission or register grievances through the 'MoFA Mitra' app if any problems arise.

Information was also provided at the press conference about the rescue of Nepalis from online scam centers operating in various Southeast Asian countries. According to the ministry, 860 Nepalis have been rescued so far from scam centers located in border areas of countries including Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar.

Similarly, informing that 49 Nepalis are currently in Cambodian jails, the ministry stated that efforts are underway through the concerned Nepali embassy for their release.

Spokesperson Chhetri mentioned that sending Nepalis to work in scam centers is illegal and that anyone involved in it will be prosecuted according to the law. He urged families and guardians to report to the police with details of individuals involved in such activities.

He also urged to inform the concerned authorities if anyone is collecting money in the name of rescuing Nepalis trapped in scam centers.

Meanwhile, informing about the operation of cargo rail service from Kolkata, India to Biratnagar, the ministry expressed its expectation that the service, which started on July 1, will have a positive impact on Nepal's trade and business.

At the press conference, Spokesperson Chhetri also provided information about the recent visit of Vice President Ram Sahayprasad Yadav to Qatar.
